Here at Oakleaf, we believe in recognizing and honoring our employees in meaningful ways. One way we do this is by celebrating their birthdays and incorporating a charitable aspect into the festivities. By donating to a charity of our employees’ choice on their behalf, we not only show our appreciation for them but also make a positive impact on society.
Since implementing this program, we have donated to dozens of organizations on behalf of our employees, including the Gastric Cancer Foundation, The Greater Boston Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Lupus Foundation, Shed a Light, World Central Kitchen, and the DNA Doe Project. Let’s take a closer look at these charities and the work they do.
The Gastric Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to funding research and finding a cure for stomach cancer. With the goal of advancing scientific understanding of the disease and improving patient outcomes, the foundation provides support to researchers, healthcare professionals, and patients and their families.
The Greater Boston Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England, distributing over 57 million pounds of food to those in need each year. By working with a network of over 600 partner agencies, the organization helps to feed more than 140,000 people every month.
Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization that aims to provide affordable housing to families in need. Through a combination of volunteer labor, donations, and support from corporate partners, Habitat for Humanity has helped to build or repair over 800,000 homes around the world.
The Lupus Foundation of America is a national organization that provides support, education, and advocacy for people with lupus and their families. The foundation also funds research into the causes and treatment of lupus, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for the disease.
Shed a Light is a charity that provides aid to refugees and displaced people around the world. By providing shelter, food, and other essential services, the organization works to alleviate the suffering of those affected by conflict, persecution, and other crises.
World Central Kitchen is a nonprofit organization founded by chef José Andrés in response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010. The organization works to provide meals to people affected by disasters and humanitarian crises around the world, with a focus on delivering healthy, culturally appropriate food.
The DNA Doe Project is a nonprofit organization that uses DNA testing to identify unidentified human remains and help solve cold cases. By working with law enforcement agencies, forensic experts, and volunteers, the organization has helped to identify dozens of previously unknown individuals and bring closure to their families.
Incorporating charity into our employee birthday celebrations is just one way we aim to make a positive impact on society. By allowing our employees to choose the charity they want to support, we not only recognize and honor them but also foster a sense of community and encourage philanthropy within our organization. At Oakleaf, we believe that by working together to support important causes, we can make a meaningful difference in the world and create a more positive and fulfilling work environment for everyone.
