Q: How long have you been with Oakleaf, and what’s your official title?

A: My title is Senior Technical Recruiter. My journey began in August 2021 as a contractor. Now, over 2 years later, I’m a full-time member of the Oakleaf family.

Q: What does a typical day look like for you?

A: My days are dynamic and filled with purpose. Our Talent Acquisition Team connects four times a week via Teams. I’m always on the go, sourcing candidates, setting up meetings, and conducting 5-10 interviews daily. The positive work environment at Oakleaf ensures that even informal chats and emails are constructive and uplifting.

Q: What’s the Oakleaf work culture like?

A: Oakleaf is a beacon of professionalism. The culture here promotes responsiveness, support, and continuous learning. I’m particularly fond of the diversity of my team, which reflects OLG’s inclusive ethos.

Q: Share a moment at OLG that you’re particularly proud of.

A: Beyond the day-to-day, it’s the lasting relationships I’ve forged with Oakleaf hiring managers that stand out. A highlight? Being instrumental in hiring over 50 underwriters for a pivotal mortgage project this past summer.

Q: Any words of wisdom for someone considering a career at OLG?

A: Oakleaf is not just a workplace; it’s a hub of learning and growth. Surrounded by brilliant minds in a positive work environment, every voice matters, and collaboration is in our DNA. We’re deeply invested in the professional growth of every team member.

Q: Do you have a personal mantra that keeps you going?

A: Don’t get too up or too down, try to stay in the middle. And don’t give up.

Q: Dream travel destination?

A: Pamplona, Spain. I’ve always wanted to run with the bulls!

Q: One thing you can’t live without?

A: My morning coffee!

Q: The last book you read?

A: “Down and Out in Paradise – The Unauthorized Biography of Anthony Bourdain.” I had the privilege of meeting him in NYC once. I’ve always been a big fan.

Q: Your first concert experience?

A: The Stray Cats in Baltimore, MD, circa 1982.

Q: If not this, what would your alternate career be?

A: I’ve dreamt of being a college professor, a pro surfer, or even owning a craft beer brewery.

Q: Any unusual or interesting jobs before OLG?

A: One of my earliest summer jobs was a pool lifeguard.

Q: How has Oakleaf shaped your professional journey?

A: Oakleaf has been more than just a job; it’s been a transformative experience. Surrounded by intellectual giants in a nurturing environment, I’ve delved deep into the finance industry and realized the profound impact we can have on candidates’ lives.

Q: The most rewarding part of your role?

A: The thrill of meeting diverse and intriguing candidates and knowing that Oakleaf’s positive culture will further enrich their professional journey.

Q: How do you spend your spare time?

A: Biking 50-100 miles a week and volunteering as a trail ranger. OLG’s emphasis on work-life balance ensures I have time for passions outside of work.

Q: Your current music playlist?

A: A mix of Country, Reggae, Jazz, and some Chill vibes.

Q: Where is your hometown?

A: Baltimore, MD.

Q: What initially attracted you to Oakleaf?

A: The blending of banking/finance with cutting-edge technology, all within a culture that prioritizes personal and professional growth.
