Richard Bitner is a Senior Advisor to Oakleaf and a leading authority on the U.S. residential mortgage market with 25+ years of experience. He is a published author and testifying expert, with deep knowledge of all facets of the mortgage industry.

 

Richard has assisted firms in the areas of litigation support, market positioning, and mergers and acquisitions. He has been a testifying expert on several RMBS and trustee-based litigation matters. Richard was President, Chief Revenue Officer and Founding Partner of HousingWire, an influential source of news and information for U.S. mortgage markets that has won numerous awards, including a 2012 Eddie Award for national editorial excellence.

 

In 2000, Richard started a subprime wholesale mortgage company, which he sold in 2005, a year before the housing collapse, due to his belief that the risk model had become unsustainable. Prior to that, Richard worked in training, business development and sales for the mortgage divisions of GE and GM.

 

Richard holds a BA in Public Relations from Northern Arizona University and an MA of Professional Studies in Communication from Cornell University.
